Royal Team’s Raed Mahmood triumphs in the 160km race in Spain

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs has escalated his sincerest congratulations to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the occasion of Royal Endurance team's victory in Raid V Hípico Vilaltella en St. Boi Lluçanès (Barcelona), Spain, on the 160km race which was won by Bahraini jockey Raed Mahmood on El Shakir Mutaz, with a ride time of 09:33:07 and average speed of 16,803 km/h.

Julia Montagne on Saida De Fignols (09:33:13 and 16,8 km/h) and Camille Coulomb on Bjez La Majorie (09:33:14 16,799 km/h, from France, finished second and third respectively.

The event featured wide participation, and HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad praised the Royal sponsorship to the endurance sport, thanks to which the Kingdom's men have been protagonists in international events.

Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser hailed HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince Prime Minister's interest in supporting sports in Bahrain, stating that this has positively impacted the team.

"Leadership is an art and needs specific skills, and the Royal Endurance team wrote its name with golden words. The team proved once again its worth at the international level. It's not easy to win top place in European competitions, especially that they witness fierce competition for top paces. The Royal Endurance team has always made its presence felt," HH Shaikh Nasser said.

"This victory didn't come from nowhere. This win in the 160km arrived thanks to precise work and a technical plan. Both Raed Mahmood and Mohammed Abdulsamad firmly stuck to this plan. As a result, they won first and fourth places respectively. I would also like to praise the work of our trainer Abdulrahman Saad and all the technical and administrative staff," HH Shaikh Nasser added.

Furthermore, HH Shaikh Nasser revealed that he is ready for the 120km race which will take place on Wednesday. "We have followed the 160km race for the seniors and the 120km race for the youth. We saw the racecourse. It won't be easy. "I look forward to making further successes under Bahrain's name."

It's worth noting that HH Shaikh Nasser was keen to give valuable advice to the team throughout the 160km race for the seniors and the 120km race for the youth.

Meanwhile, HH Shaikh Nasser will spearhead the Royal Endurance team in the 120 km race which will take place on Wednesday.

It's worth noting that Raed Mahmood won the 160 km race, while his teammate finished fourth in the same race.

During the call, HM the King congratulated HH Shaikh Nasser on the accomplishment, praising His Highness' prominent efforts towards bolstering Bahrain's endurance sport position internationally, including in Europe, where the Kingdom has left a clear print thanks to His Highness' vision which have allowed the Bahraini men make prestigious accomplishments.

From his side, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed thanks and gratitude to HM the King for His Majesty's support and backing to the Royal Endurance members, which clearly reflects His Majesty's acute care and sponsorship towards the endurance sport.

Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser conveyed His Majesty's congratulations to the Royal Endurance team, and to jockey Raed Mahmood, who triumphed in the 160km race as well as to jockey Mohammed Abdulsalam who finished fourth and to the team's trainer Abdulrahman Al Saad in addition to the team's administrative and technical staff.
