Cromo D’Jok Trio Secures Second Victory

Under the expert guidance of jockey Gabriel Santana, Cromo D’Jok Trio triumphed from start to finish at the 2024 Arabian Horse National Grand Prix - Wathba Stallions Cup, held on Saturday, December 14, at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome. This prestigious event was organized by the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association (ABCCA). The 5-year-old gray horse previously secured his first victory at the UAE President Cup Series for Colts & Fillies II on September 21.

In the second race of the day, trainer Thiago Haidar celebrated his second win with Cromo D’Jok Trio (*D´Jok Py x RT Crysti by Nawwak NA), following the success of his half-sister Allure BV, who dominated the first race from start to finish.

From the outset of the 1,600-meter turf race, Cromo D’Jok Trio was closely pursued by Ômega Rach (*Uzbek Du Lion x Orchestra Rach by Vaillant Rach), ridden by Ruberlei Viana. However, in the final 150 meters, a strong surge from Monsenhor Rach, ridden by Jeane Alves, saw him make a decisive move from the outside and overtake his stablemate.

As the favorite in the Arabian Horse National GP 2024 - Wathba Stallions Cup, Cromo D’Jok Trio crossed the finish line with a comfortable lead of 1 ¼ lengths over Monsenhor Rach in second place, followed by Ômega Rach in third, both trained by Lucas Quintana and bred and owned by Rach Stud Agropecuária Ltda.

Renato Salvador, breeder and owner of Cromo D’Jok Trio, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It is incredibly rewarding to witness the evolution of the horses we breed. We have great faith in D’Jok PY as a stallion, and it brings me immense joy to see his offspring excelling in endurance races of 100, 120, and 160 km, and now in traditional racing as well. This reaffirms that we are on the right track.”

Trainer Thiago Haidar remarked, “This was an outstanding second victory for Cromo D’Jok Trio, who previously finished second behind his half-sister Allure BV. The race, being exclusively for males, suited him well, allowing him to maintain a steady pace under Santana’s expert handling. Achieving two victories in two races is a tremendous joy. We have noticed the superiority of French bloodlines in the pedigrees of our current racing horses at the Jockey Club of São Paulo.”

Jockey Gabriel Santana noted, “This was my third race in a row with Cromo D’Jok Trio, and it’s our second victory together. He responded excellently to my commands and exhibited a strong desire to race from the start.”

Almir José Ribeiro, racing director of the Brazilian Association of Arabian Horse Breeders, added, “First and foremost, our heartfelt gratitude goes to HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Lara Sawaya for their decade-long partnership and belief in our potential. Cromo D’Jok Trio was the clear favorite in this race, and with this victory, he showcased the significance of French blood in our current generation of racehorses in Brazil.”

He further commended the remarkable performances of Monsenhor Rach, sired by Seraphin Du Paon, and Ômega Rach, a son of *Uzbek Du Lion, who both ran brilliantly. “I extend my congratulations to the Saliba Family for their continued advancements in breeding Arabian racing horses in Brazil. We conclude this season with thrilling races featuring horses with pedigrees capable of competing internationally.”

The Grande Prêmio Nacional do Cavalo Árabe 2024 - Wathba Stallions Cup was organized by the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association in collaboration with the Jockey Club de São Paulo.
